I attended the New Media session at Birchwood Hotel yesterday as requested, and overall, I found the session very informative and interesting.
The session focused on the changing media environment and how technology, digital platforms and social media are influencing the way people communicate, access news and engage with information. It was interesting to see just how much the media space has changed and how important it is for journalists and media practitioners to keep up with these developments.
One of the things that stood out for me was the growing importance of digital media in reaching audiences. People are no longer relying only on traditional media for their news and information, with many now turning to social media and other digital platforms. This means that as media practitioners, we need to continuously adapt and look at new and creative ways of telling stories and engaging with our audiences.
The discussions also highlighted the importance of understanding the different platforms and how they can be used effectively. At the same time, even with all these changes, the responsibility of sharing information that is accurate, credible and meaningful remains very important.
I also appreciated the opportunity to engage with other people in the media space and hear different perspectives on the opportunities and challenges brought about by new media. It gave me a better understanding of where the industry is heading and how these changes can influence the way we do our work.
Overall, I found the session valuable and I believe the information shared can be useful in our work, particularly in terms of how we communicate, tell stories and reach our audiences. It also reminded me of the importance of continuously learning and keeping up with developments in the media industry.
