With a brace from
tshegofatso Mabasa, Orlando Pirates defeated Liolli 3-0 in the first leg of the CAF Chacmpions League, the second leg will be played next week in South Africa. The match cooled off, entering a slump, Orlando Pirates lost their clarity in attack and didn’t seem comfortable with what their opponent was offering.
Liolli defended in a low block and in a zonal fashion, a strong perfomance from South Africa, who closed the gap at the start of the second half. Liolli will have to improve many things to turn the series around in next week, although they were wasteful in the first half the Sea Robbers came back from the break hungrier and grabbed the win that ensure the Soweto Giants started their continental campaign on a positive note.
